    In this neck cooler comparison, three points separate these three devices, and the one worth buying finishes second. Four weighted axes put the Torras Coolify 2S at 56.7, the Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus at 55.0 and the Embr Wave 2 at 53.5. A 3.2-point spread is a tie. The tie-breaker below sends the money to the Sony at $259.99, and says what would change that.

    These three are not the same kind of device. Embr’s own page says the Wave 2 creates sensations at the wrist. Torras sells a neck cooler that moves air. Sony sells a neck cooler that moves heat. Only one of the three publishes a temperature number, and that number has nothing attached to it.

    Why Does the Sony Score Need Defending on Two Axes?

    Two of the Sony’s scores need defending, because both reflect missing data rather than a bad result. The Sony scores 10 of 20 on the claims axis for publishing no temperature figure at all, which is better than publishing an unsupported one and worse than saying plainly what the device does not do. The Sony scores zero on availability because I could not confirm it, not because I confirmed it was gone. Same house rule as the rest of this site: a maker that leaves the answer unverifiable does not collect the points for it.

    Without the Availability Axis, Sony Wins by 14 Points

    Zero out availability and the tally reads Sony 55.0, Embr 41.0, Torras 31.7. Zero out runtime instead and it reads Torras 45.0, Embr 32.5, Sony 20.0. The whole result turns on which of those two you care about, and one of them will be a different number next week.

    The tie-breaker. Three points is not a verdict. After hurricane season storm cleanup in Florida that outlasts every fan I own, the Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus is the one I would point a friend to. It is the only device here that both moves real heat and publishes a runtime attached to a named mode, and the axis the Torras wins on is the one most likely to have changed by the time you read this. If the Sony is out of stock when you look, the Torras is a real product at $169 and not a consolation prize.

    Does the Torras Neck Cooler’s 42-Degree Claim Hold Up?

    The Coolify 2S product page carries “42°F Cooler” twice in its feature block. It does not say cooler than what. No ambient temperature, no starting skin temperature, no test condition, no duration. I read the page twice looking for the qualifier and there is not one.

    That matters more than it sounds. 42°F is not a temperature, it is a difference, and a difference needs two measurements. Without the other one the number cannot be checked, compared against the Sony, or used to decide anything.

    In Embr’s Own Feed, One of Two Colours Is Buyable

    Embr Labs’ Wave 2 page renders as sold out. Its own machine-readable product feed disagrees, and the feed is the one to believe: the product reads available at the top level, the Rose Gold variant reads available true at $299.00, and the Black variant reads available false at the same price.

    So the Wave 2 is buyable. In one colour. A reader who took the rendered page at face value would have concluded the product was gone, and a reader who ignored the variant would have gone looking for the black one. Check the feed, then check the colour.

    Embr also sells access rather than the device: $20 a month through its Embrship subscription, cancel anytime. At $299 outright, the rental costs the purchase price in fifteen months. That is the arithmetic; whether it is worth it depends on whether you would keep it past a summer, and Embr does not publish anything that would tell you.

    Sony’s side of this is thinner and I will say so. Sony sells the Reon Pocket Pro Plus direct, and Forbes reported on 24 July 2026 that it was “just arrived in the States but it’s already out of stock”. Sony publishes no product feed I could read, so there is no way from here to say whether that has changed.

    Among 48,000 Recalled Waist Fans, None of These Three Appear

    Wearable cooling runs on lithium batteries pressed against skin, so the recall check is not a formality here. It is also the most useful thing on this page that no maker will tell you.

    The CPSC recalled roughly 48,000 Living Glow five-in-one portable waist fans, model CP-WFLED01, on 9 October 2025 under recall number 26-008. The hazard: “The lithium-ion batteries can overheat while charging, posing a fire hazard.” Four reports of fans melting or catching fire, no injuries, sold through HSN for $20 to $25. Owners are told to register for a refund, disable the fan and take it to a household hazardous waste centre rather than the bin. The CPSC notice carries the registration details.

    It is not an isolated listing. The CPSC’s own recall index also carries Merkury Innovations Hot + Cool heating and cooling fans, recalled for fire hazard, and IcyBreeze portable misting fans, recalled for fire hazard in 2025. On the Canadian side, Health Canada recalled a portable clip-on rechargeable mini fan on 12 August 2026, 807 units, one incident and no injuries, because the fan “has a battery compartment that is not sealed or labelled with clear polarity markings which could lead the consumer to insert a battery in reverse polarity, posing a potential fire hazard.”

    Neither regulator names the Embr Wave 2, the Torras Coolify 2S or the Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus. Read that as what it is: a clean result for these three products and a live pattern in the category they sit in. None of the three makers publishes anything about charging supervision or battery handling that I could find, which is why the fifth axis I wanted to score does not exist. An axis that pays nothing to anybody is still a finding.

    Should You Skip the Embr Wave 2?

    $299 outright or $20 a month, HSA/FSA eligible, 9+ hours of cooling or warming, full charge in two hours. Embr’s own description is a thermoelectric heat pump generating sensations that stimulate the temperature-sensitive nerves on the inside of your wrist.

    Skip this if you want your skin to be cooler. Embr is not selling you a temperature drop and does not say it is.

    Is the Torras Neck Cooler Available Now?

    $169.00, marked down from $199.00, and its own feed confirms it in stock. Dual turbines, 360-degree airflow, an 8000mm² cooling area, 80 percent charge in an hour, and it runs while plugged in.

    Skip this if you need more than five hours of real cooling. Torras publishes C1 at five hours and C3, the strongest, at three and a half.

    Is the Sony Neck Cooler Worth Chasing?

    $259.99 direct from Sony, per Forbes on 24 July 2026. Up to 15 hours in SMART COOL, about 130 minutes to 90 percent and about 200 minutes to full, measured at 25°C. Worn at the back of the neck under a collar, with a sensing tag that reads ambient temperature and humidity for the app.

    Skip this if you need one this week. Sony sells it direct, and the only dated availability report I have says it sold out on arrival in the US.

    How This Page Is Sourced

Even Realities G2 ($599, plus a $249 ring to control it) skips camera and speakers both, for an actual heads-up display in the lens. None of these are built for a workout. They’re for everyday wear — texting, photos, questions, notifications, translation.

The 12MP camera shoots stills at 3024×4032 and video up to 3K at 30fps, with 32GB of onboard storage rated for roughly 500 photos or 100 thirty-second clips before you need to offload. Battery is rated at up to 8 hours per charge on the glasses alone, with the charging case adding up to 48 hours total, and a 50% top-up in 20 minutes.

    Tom’s Guide’s Gen 2 review spent real time with a pair and called them “the most complete smart glasses” at this price, after a day of podcasts, photos, and occasional Meta AI questions with no battery anxiety. The same review flags something worth knowing before you buy: Meta has started using AI chat content to inform ad targeting, which the reviewer says dampened their enthusiasm. That’s a genuine tradeoff for the camera-and-AI convenience, not marketing spin.

    Skip this if: you don’t want a camera lens pointed outward on your own face in public. Or you shoot more than a few dozen clips between charges — 32GB fills up faster than the spec sheet suggests.     There’s No Camera Here, On Purpose

    Echo Frames (Amazon’s current “newest model,” still internally the third generation) list at $269.99 for standard styles, $329.99 for polarized sunglass versions. No camera, full stop. The whole product is two micro speakers in the stems, four beam-forming microphones, IPX4 water resistance, and Alexa. Amazon’s own spec sheet rates battery at 4 hours at max volume, 6 hours at 80% — TechRadar’s Gen 3 review, after real use, lands in that same range and calls it “a noticeable upgrade” in fit and mic quality over the prior model, while docking points because the glasses can’t tell if they’re actually being worn, or if someone nearby is talking to the wearer.

    There’s a Ledger Winner, and There’s Nate’s Own Pick

    The Ledger says Ray-Ban Meta, and on these weights, it’s not close — 64 versus 43 and 42. That’s the honest math for a buyer who wants the single most capable device: camera, assistant, and decent audio in one pair of glasses.

    My own money goes to Echo Frames anyway. Not because the math is wrong — because the math doesn’t weigh the thing I actually care about, which is a camera I’m not wearing in public by default. $269.99 also isn’t $379, and I’m not carrying a 32GB storage ceiling or Meta’s ad-targeting policy for a camera I’d use occasionally at best. If you want the camera and the AI depth, Ray-Ban Meta is the right call and the Ledger backs you up. If you just want Alexa on your face without explaining to everyone why you’re wearing a camera, Echo Frames is where I’d spend $269.99. Even Realities G2 is a real product for a narrower buyer — someone who already wants an AR display and doesn’t mind paying $848 to get one that looks like ordinary glasses.

    Only Even Realities G2, with its 640×200 micro-LED display. Ray-Ban Meta and Echo Frames are both audio/camera devices with nothing projected into your field of view.

    Do any of these work without a phone nearby?

    Not meaningfully. All three lean on a paired phone for setup, app-based features, and most AI functions — none of them are standalone computers.

    One structural fact stands out: none of the three fully discloses every ingredient amount. Bloom is the most transparent of the group — per the label breakdown in BarBend’s dietitian review, its seven blends carry stated gram totals, including a 1.606-gram fiber blend and a 1.367-gram green superfoods blend — but the individual ingredients inside each blend remain unquantified across all three products.

    AG1 is worth $79 a month only if you need what it uniquely offers: NSF Certified for Sport verification for drug-tested athletes, plus an 83-ingredient formula with a 13-gram scoop and 10 billion CFU of probiotics that can replace several separate supplements. For everyone else, the price is the product’s biggest weakness.

    The formula has real gaps at any price. According to Top Nutrition Coaching’s dietitian review, AG1 contains no vitamin D, while delivering some nutrients far beyond daily needs — 1,100% of the Daily Value for biotin and 16,667% for vitamin B12. That review’s bottom line was blunt: AG1 is “not worth it for most people” at its current price.

    Registered dietitian Jordan Hill, MS, RDN, CSSD, put the deciding factor well in that same review: “No matter what you choose to add to your health routine, make sure that it’s sustainable. You want something that’s nutritious for your health, but also tastes good and is affordable so that you stick with it.” At $948 a year, sustainability is exactly where AG1 struggles.

    The $50-a-Month Gap Between AG1 and Bloom

    For most buyers, that gap doesn’t hold up — $50.11 a month buys certification and formula breadth, not a categorically different product. Both are green blends built around the same core promise: concentrated plant ingredients, digestive support, and probiotics in a daily scoop.

    Bloom’s case is simple: at $28.89 a month on subscription (or $33.99 one-time), it covers greens, prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and adaptogens across 38 listed fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. Its five flavors also make it the easiest of the three to keep drinking, and every flavor is labeled gluten-free, plant-based, and dairy-free.

    Bloom’s honest weakness is disclosure. As registered dietitian Diana Gariglio-Clelland, R.D., CDCES, noted in BarBend’s review: “It’s unclear how much benefit you’ll get by using Bloom Greens since the ingredients are all proprietary blends.” It also doesn’t publish a probiotic CFU count, where AG1 states 10 billion. Maximum label certainty is the trade you make for Bloom’s price advantage.

    Where Live it Up Super Greens Actually Fits

    Live it Up Super Greens is the middle option at $39.99 a month on subscription ($59.99 one-time), and it wins on two specific points: it’s sweetened with monk fruit rather than stevia — no artificial sweeteners, no added sugar — and its shorter list of 20-plus superfoods reads cleaner to shoppers wary of 80-ingredient mega-formulas.

    Its label tells you not to expect a multivitamin. Per BarBend’s dietitian review, only 8 of the 24 nutrients listed on its panel exceed 10% of the Daily Value, though vitamin K tops 50% — and its probiotic dose of 5 billion CFU across four named strains is half of AG1’s. Reviewer Chelsea Rae Bourgeois, MS, RDN, LD, summed up the value question: “For $2 per serving, I’d expect this powder to provide more well-rounded dosages.” That $2 figure is the one-time price; on subscription it drops to $1.33 per serving, which is where Live it Up makes the most sense.

    Greens powders work as a supplement to a diet, not a replacement for one — that’s the consistent position of registered dietitians, including Cleveland Clinic’s Julia Zumpano, RD, LD: “You never want powdered greens to take the place of eating whole fruits and vegetables. Think of powdered greens as a bonus.” Per CDC survey data published in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, only about 1 in 10 US adults meets daily vegetable intake recommendations, and a scoop of concentrated plants can narrow that gap on rushed days. What no brand in this comparison has: published clinical trials proving its specific formula outperforms simply eating more vegetables.

    All three: greens powders tend to run high in vitamin K. Cleveland Clinic dietitian Julia Zumpano’s caution applies across the category: “Many powdered greens are high in vitamin K. If you’re on a blood thinner or on any type of medication that could interact with vitamin K, you want to ask your health care provider before starting it.” People pregnant, nursing, or managing a medical condition should clear any of these three with a professional first.

    The readiness score is the same promise from three companies: a number that tells you whether to train hard today. The Whoop 5.0 rents you that number for $199 to $359 a year, membership required, device included. Garmin’s Training Readiness comes free on compatible watches such as the Forerunner 970 and updates passively, once three weeks of sleep data exist. Polar’s Recovery Pro, on watches like the Vantage V3, asks you to stand still for four minutes at least three mornings a week – and in exchange prints the raw measurements the other two keep to themselves.

    The short version. Most transparent: Polar Recovery Pro, five raw values per test. Least effort: Garmin Training Readiness, passive and $0 recurring. The loser on these axes: the Whoop 5.0 – the only score with a required annual bill, and the only one whose headline accuracy claim traces to a six-person study of an older device.     None of these three scores has been validated as a score, by anyone. That is the finding of this section, and it is checkable row by row. What has been validated – sometimes well, sometimes thinly – is the measurements underneath.

    Start With What Each Readiness Number Is Built From

    Whoop’s recovery percentage draws on heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep performance, and respiratory rate, with blood oxygen and skin temperature folded in, per Whoop’s own recovery explainer. It buckets you into green (67 to 99 percent), yellow (34 to 66), or red (1 to 33), and Whoop says the member average sits near 58 percent. The weighting between those inputs is not published.

    Garmin’s Training Readiness runs 1 to 100 and labels the ranges in its manual: 95 and up is Prime, 75 to 94 High, 50 to 74 Moderate, 25 to 49 Low, 1 to 24 Poor. Six named factors go in. How much each counts is not disclosed, and the HRV factor is empty until the watch has watched you sleep for three weeks. The score itself needs no subscription – Garmin’s optional Connect+ layer adds AI summaries on top, and Garmin said at that subscription’s launch that the existing free experience was not going away, per TechRadar’s report.

    Polar splits the job in two. Nightly Recharge runs passively overnight. Recovery Pro is the deliberate one: the four-minute morning stand-up test, scheduled at least three mornings a week on Polar’s own recommendation, compared against four weeks of your history. It then tells you plainly whether your cardio system is recovered and hands out advice in four flavors, from “Go for it!” to “Rest.”

    Worth saying once, plainly: no wrist time went into this page. It is built from Whoop’s recovery explainer and pricing page, Garmin’s watch manuals, Polar’s support protocol, one journal study, and one systematic review, and every number names its source where it appears.

    Score Them on Transparency, Proof, Effort, and Bills

    Four axes, weighted for what a readiness score is for. Transparency gets 30 of 100, because a number that bosses your training around should be auditable. Proof gets 25 – what the maker can point to in print. Effort gets 25, because a score you stop collecting is worth nothing. Required recurring cost gets 20. Each cell names its basis.

    Which Readiness Score Wins the Tally?

    After hurricane season mornings I would rather have skipped, Polar’s Recovery Pro is the one I would pick, because it shows its work. Polar wins the tally, 72 to Garmin’s 67, with the Whoop 5.0 at 55. No tie, so no tie-breaker. But look at where Polar’s lead lives: it is all in the transparency column. It only exists if you take the test. Zero the effort question – assume a person who will reliably do a standing test three mornings a week forever – and Polar’s win widens. Assume the person most of us are in week three, and the passive Garmin number is the one that still exists.

    Match the Readiness Score to the Effort You Will Give It

    The Whoop 5.0 is the committed version. Screenless, worn around the clock, the recovery percentage front and center, and the most polished recovery-first app of the three. It is also the bottom of this tally: the only required annual bill, and the accuracy stat on its own site was measured on hardware it has since replaced – twice at least. Skip it if you refuse subscriptions, want a screen, or expect the marketing’s precision to be a property of the unit you are buying.     Garmin’s Training Readiness is the default for anyone who already wants a sports watch. Free with the hardware, passive after the calibration wait, and honest enough to publish its factor list. Skip it if you will not wear a watch to sleep – no overnight wear, no HRV status, no meaningful score. Skip it too if being unable to audit the weighting bothers you more than a subscription would.

    Polar’s Recovery Pro is the one for people who want measurements, not just advice. It shows its work, costs nothing recurring on a Vantage V3-class watch, and the wrist-ECG option killed the strap excuse. Skip it if you already know the morning test will not survive week two; a protocol you abandon scores zero on every axis.     Decide Which Question You Are Asking

    These three do not answer the same question. Whoop answers “what does my body say today?” with the least friction and the least visible work, for an annual fee. Garmin answers it for free as a side effect of a watch you bought for other reasons. Polar answers a sharper question – “what did my heart measure this morning?” – and charges you in discipline instead of dollars.

    Two footnotes belong in that decision. Sleep quality feeds all three scores, and how honestly each maker measures sleep is its own fight – the published sleep-staging numbers are in our sleep tracking comparison. And none of these numbers is a medical readout. A wellness score that says Go for it is not a clearance, and one that says Rest is not a diagnosis.

Samsung’s own site no longer lists the $199.99 Galaxy Watch FE — the product page now redirects to the Galaxy Watch8 line. Between the two watches still current, the CMF Watch 3 Pro at $79 costs $6.08 a day of its rated 13-day battery; the Amazfit Balance 2 at $299.99 costs $14.29 a day of its rated 21. Buy the CMF Watch 3 Pro if price and battery are what “budget” means to you. Buy the Balance 2 if you want a longer sensor list and don’t mind paying flagship-adjacent money for it.

    When You Check Samsung’s Own Site, the Galaxy Watch FE Isn’t There

    Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch FE on June 24, 2024, at $199.99 for the Bluetooth model and $249.99 for LTE. It carried the same 3-in-1 BioActive sensor as Samsung’s pricier watches — FDA-cleared ECG readings and bioelectrical impedance body-composition scans — in a single 40mm case.

    Reporting from 9to5Google traces the watch disappearing from Samsung’s own store sometime between July and August 2025, with a direct product link now redirecting to the Galaxy Watch8 page. That holds true today: Samsung’s current watches page lists the Watch Ultra2, Watch9, and Watch8 Classic, with no Galaxy Watch FE anywhere on it. Samsung has not issued a public statement explaining the decision.

    The watch itself isn’t gone from the world — Amazon still lists a “Renewed” unit, and 9to5Google reported clearance pricing around $99 at Walmart in late 2025 — but the maker isn’t the one selling it anymore, and nothing about its long-term software support or repair path is being actively managed the way a current product’s is.

    If FDA-cleared ECG and body-composition scanning are the reason you were looking at the Galaxy Watch FE, Samsung’s current answer to that is the Galaxy Watch8 — and two sources checked here don’t agree on what it costs. Best Buy prices the 40mm Bluetooth model at a $299.99 comparable value, on sale for $271.00 as of this writing. GSMArena’s own spec listing gives the watch’s price as $329.99. Both are printed here rather than picked, because neither is obviously wrong and this site can’t reach a live Samsung buy page that states one number plainly.

    Either figure is $100 to $130 more than the Galaxy Watch FE cost while Samsung still sold it. That’s the real price of the sensor package now — not $199.99, whatever the old comparison implied.

    When You Divide Price by Rated Battery Days, CMF Wins by a Wide Margin

    The two watches Samsung and Amazfit are both still selling new can be priced the same honest way: sticker price divided by the maker’s own rated battery life, in days. This isn’t a fair fight between equivalent hardware — CMF’s watch runs a minimal always-on-adjacent chip built to sip power, and Amazfit’s runs a fuller sensor suite that costs more energy to feed. The ratio doesn’t pretend otherwise. It just answers one question: what a day of charge costs, in dollars, for each design.

    The Galaxy Watch FE’s number is included for the record, not as a real answer — a full always-on AMOLED display and app processor is a different product category from a fitness watch built around a low-power chip, and the FE isn’t a live purchase to weigh anyway. Between the two watches you can actually buy new, CMF’s normal-use figure beats Amazfit’s by 2.4 times, and its power-saving figure beats it by nearly 11 times.

    When a Sensor Is the Whole Reason to Spend More, Check What’s Actually in the Box

    Amazfit Balance 2’s BioTracker sensor covers heart rate, blood oxygen, heart rate variability, sleep, and stress — a real spread, and none of it requires Zepp’s paid tier to see. What it does not have, and never claimed to have on Amazfit’s own product page, is an ECG. CMF Watch 3 Pro goes further in the other direction: heart rate and SpO2, full stop, with no ECG and no blood-oxygen-adjacent extras beyond that.

    Neither gap is a defect. It’s the reason each watch costs what it costs. The FDA-cleared ECG that used to be available at $199.99 now starts at whatever Samsung’s Watch8 actually rings up to — and that’s the only one of these four watches that clears the bar for someone who specifically wants that sensor.

    $79 on Nothing’s own US store, marked down from $99 on the same page. GPS, Bluetooth calling, heart rate and SpO2 tracking, 130 sport modes, IP68 water resistance (not rated for swimming). Rated 13 days under normal use, 60 in power-saving mode — the best price-per-day figure of any watch in this comparison.

    Skip this if you want any form of ECG or plan to swim with it — IP68 covers dust and submersion under controlled conditions, not swim tracking, and Nothing doesn’t market it that way.

    Amazfit Balance 2 — buy this if you want more sensors and don’t mind the price gap

    $299.99 on Amazfit’s own US store. BioTracker sensor for heart rate, SpO2, HRV, sleep, and stress; 21-day rated battery; no subscription required through the free Zepp app. It’s no longer Amazfit’s newest Balance-series watch — the Balance 3 ($369.99) and Balance Ultra now sit above it — but Amazfit still sells it new, at the same $299.99 it launched at.

    Skip this if ECG specifically is what you’re after. Amazfit doesn’t put one in this watch, and paying $299.99 to not get it is a worse trade than paying $79 to not get it.

    Samsung Galaxy Watch FE — not a current pick, named here so you don’t go looking for it

    When a Recall Would Change This, CPSC’s Own Listing Says Otherwise

    I checked the CPSC’s jewelry and watches recall listing for Amazfit, Zepp Health, Samsung, Nothing, and CMF. None of the three watches named here, and none of their makers, appear on it. The one smartwatch recall currently listed there is an Altafit-branded watch sold through HSN, over a wireless-charging-pad fire risk — a different brand, a different maker, named here only because it’s the nearest thing in the category. A search of Health Canada’s recall database for the same names returned nothing as well; that’s a search of what’s published, not a database guarantee.

Apple Watch Ultra 3’s hardware carries the same EN13319 rating to 40 meters, on Apple’s own spec sheet — but reaching a working algorithm needs a separate Oceanic+ app subscription the watch’s price doesn’t include. Between the two dedicated computers, Suunto Ocean matches Garmin’s certification and comes within a shade of its gas planning for about $400 less, with a battery that runs twice as long in dive mode.     What Garmin Actually Publishes About the Mk3’s Battery

    Descent Mk3, 43mm, runs $1,199.99. That’s the base model — no air integration, no transceiver, no built-in flashlight. The case is rated to 200 meters, and the watch runs Garmin’s Bühlmann ZHL-16c algorithm with configurable Gradient Factors. Gas planning covers a bottom gas plus up to five backup or decompression mixes: air, nitrox, trimix, and 100% oxygen. It logs 200 dives on the device itself, with unlimited backup through Garmin Connect.

    Here’s the part worth slowing down for. Garmin’s own Descent Mk3 press release headlines “up to 66 hours” of dive-mode battery — a real number, not invented, but footnoted to the larger 51mm Mk3i. The 43mm Mk3 priced and compared here is rated up to 30 hours in dive mode with the display always on, according to Garmin’s own owner’s manual. Not a rounding difference. Sixty-six hours reads like two and a half days of diving. Thirty is a bit over one.

    Case size buys battery here, quietly, in the fine print rather than the headline.

    Skip this if you don’t dive past recreational limits or need trimix planning named on the spec sheet. You’re paying for depth and gas range most divers never touch, and Suunto documents the certification that actually matters for $400 less.

    There’s No Subscription Standing Between You and Suunto’s Certification

    Ocean, the All Black model, currently lists at $799 on Suunto’s own site — down from its $899 launch price. EN13319-certified to 60 meters, comfortably past where recreational no-decompression diving happens. The algorithm is Suunto Bühlmann 16 GF, gradient factors configurable the same way Garmin’s are. Gas planning covers nitrox and air plus multigas support up to five gases between 21% and 100% oxygen; Suunto’s own copy stops short of printing the word “trimix,” though the gas range functionally covers most of what that word implies.

    Battery is the standout number: up to 60 hours in dive mode, the longest published figure of the three, and up to 16 days in everyday smartwatch use with heart rate on. Independent test notes from DIVE Magazine’s review land in the same range. One real gap runs the other way — Suunto’s support documentation says the logbook simply overwrites the oldest dive once memory fills, without stating how many dives that actually is. Garmin publishes 200. Suunto doesn’t publish a number at all.

    Skip this if you’re diving past 60 meters or want “trimix” printed in the marketing copy rather than implied by the gas-mix range — the Mk3’s deeper case and explicit language are the two things Ocean doesn’t match.

    “Recreational Scuba Diving to 40 Meters” Is Only Half the Spec

    Apple Watch Ultra 3 starts at $799 — the cheapest hardware of the three. Apple’s own technical specifications page states the watch “meets EN13319 recreational scuba diving to 40m (±1m accuracy)” under its 100-meter water resistance rating (ISO 22810:2010). That’s a genuine, published certification claim, sourced directly from Apple’s own spec sheet, and it puts the watch’s hardware in the same regulatory category named by the two dedicated computers above.

    What that sentence doesn’t say up front: the watch doesn’t ship with a working decompression algorithm. Reaching one means installing Oceanic+, a third-party app from Oceanic Worldwide, and paying for its Scuba Diving tier — $9.99 a month, $79.99 a year, or $4.99 a day, per Oceanic’s own pricing page. The free tier bundled with the watch covers GPS tracking, a compass, and basic depth monitoring. It does not include dive planning or the Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm that makes the EN13319 rating something you can actually dive with. Once subscribed, Oceanic+ plans for air or nitrox up to 40% oxygen, with no trimix option, and neither Apple nor Oceanic publishes a dive-specific battery figure separate from the watch’s general rating of up to 42 hours, 72 in low power mode.

    Skip this if you want a dive computer that works the day it arrives. The $799 sticker doesn’t include the subscription that turns the certification into something usable, and the two dedicated computers above don’t ask for one.

    The Tie-Breaker: What I’d Actually Buy

    The Ledger isn’t close between the two real dive computers here — 93 to 83 sounds decisive until you look at where the ten points actually come from. Price and an unpublished dive-log number, not certification or algorithm depth, which are functionally tied.

    If I were spending my own money and didn’t need a 200-meter case or a marketing page that spells out “trimix,” I’d buy the Suunto Ocean. Same certification. A comparable algorithm. Twice the dive-mode battery. Four hundred dollars still in my pocket. Descent Mk3 earns its price if you actually dive past recreational limits on a regular basis. Most people reading a comparison like this one don’t, and know it.

    Where This Leaves the Three of Them

    Suunto Ocean wins this Ledger. Garmin Descent Mk3 loses on value, not on capability — it’s the more capable watch on paper, priced like it, and that’s a defensible trade for the diver who needs the depth.

    Apple Watch Ultra 3 loses outright as a dive computer. Real EN13319 hardware, sold without the software that makes the rating mean anything, at a price that looks like the best deal of the three until the subscription bill arrives. None of that makes Ultra 3 a bad watch. It just isn’t a dive computer out of the box, and the spec sheet that names the certification doesn’t say so.

Jabra renamed its lineup — the Select 300 now sells as the Enhance Select M2, still $1,695. All three devices are scored on a five-axis Ledger weighing maker continuity, included care, regulatory paper, battery life, and price.

    Jabra Enhance Select M2 wins this comparison at 87.5 points of 100. It costs $1,695, and it is the only device here whose sticker includes three years of audiologists, in writing, from a company still committed to the US market. Apple AirPods Pro 3, $249.00 on Apple’s store page, takes 68.0 — the right first step for testing whether amplification helps at all. Lexie B2 Plus finishes at 39.8, and the number is not about the hardware: an OTC hearing aid is a purchase plus an app, a support desk, and a warranty, and Lexie’s are winding down. Buying one new right now means betting on services its parent has only promised through mid-September.

    Every figure on this page is published: Apple’s spec and store pages, Jabra’s product page, the FDA’s own announcement, and HearingTracker’s reporting on the LXE wind-down. I did not wear any of these devices. What follows is what each maker will put in writing, and what still stands behind it.

    The Ledger’s Five Axes Price a Promise, Not a Gadget

Lexie 2 — LXE Hearing announced a US wind-down on July 15, 2026, per HearingTracker’s report; the devices keep amplifying, but the company behind them is going.

    Professional care included, in writing, 25 of 100. Jabra 25: the Enhance Select M2 page lists “3 years free of audiology with our Audiology Team,” a 100-day trial, and a 3-year warranty with loss and damage protection. Lexie 4: 45 days of “Lexie Experts” on paper, from a desk currently committed to answering only “through at least September 15.” Apple 3: no humans at all — a hearing test and tuning live in the app, and that is the design.

Apple 20: the FDA authorized its Hearing Aid Feature through the De Novo pathway on September 12, 2024 — the agency’s own announcement calls it the first OTC hearing aid software and scopes it to adults 18 and older with perceived mild-to-moderate hearing impairment. Jabra 18 and Lexie 18: both sell FDA-cleared self-fitting OTC hearing aids. A two-point spread. The paper does not separate these three; the service does.

    Two re-runs. Zero the care axis — you know you will never call a human — and Apple AirPods Pro 3 wins, 65.0 to Jabra’s 62.5 and Lexie’s 35.8. Zero the continuity axis instead, scoring the field as it stood before July 15, and Jabra still wins, 59.5 to Lexie’s 37.8 and Apple’s 38.0 — the care and battery gaps carried the M2 even before Lexie’s news. The wind-down did not create this verdict. It widened it.

    Apple’s $249 Buys the Paper and No People

    The Hearing Aid feature runs a pure-tone test through the earbuds, builds an amplification profile from it, and accepts a professional audiogram instead if you have one. Apple’s spec page scopes it to “perceived mild to moderate hearing loss,” the same lane the FDA’s authorization defines, and supports it on AirPods Pro 2 and later with a compatible iPhone or iPad. For $249.00 that is a real, regulated way to find out whether amplification helps you — before spending four figures.

    The two costs Apple’s price hides sit in the battery table and the org chart. Ten hours in Transparency with the feature running is a strong earbud number and a short hearing-aid number; a 16-hour day needs a midday recharge, every day. And when self-fitting goes wrong, there is no audiology desk to call. That is not a flaw. It is the product.

    Lexie’s 45-Day Promise Now Ends With Its US Business

    The B2 Plus itself did not get worse. Bose-derived processing, 18 hours per charge, $899 per pair, and real FDA-cleared self-fitting paper — three weeks ago that was the sensible middle of this page. What changed is everything around it: LXE Hearing, parent of Lexie, Eargo, and Go Hearing, is winding down US operations. Customer service is pledged “through at least September 15,” warranty administration past that date is unresolved, and the apps — which is where self-fitting lives — are explicitly not guaranteed long-term. HearingTracker, which covers this industry full-time, currently cannot recommend purchasing any of the three brands, and on this one I read the record the same way.

    Retail listings for the B2 Plus are still live at major electronics stores. A listing is not a company. If you already own one, submit any warranty claim before September 15 and export what you can from the app. If you were about to buy one: the discount that will inevitably appear is priced in someone else’s exit.

    Jabra’s $1,695 Is the Only Sticker With Audiologists in It

    The Enhance Select M2 is the renamed Select 300 — same $1,695, and Jabra’s own store now serves the M2 page at the old Select 300 address, flanked by an M1 at $1,195 and an M3 at $1,995, the exact price points the 50R, 300, and 700 held. What the money buys, per the product page: 24-hour battery from a 3-hour charge with three more charges in the case, a 100-day trial, a 3-year warranty with loss and damage protection, and three years of the Audiology Team — follow-up adjustments by real clinicians, not a 45-day onboarding window.

    One caution for buyers comparing reviews: independent review sites still describe this lineup as the Select 700, 300, and 50R at $1,995, $1,695, and $1,195.     Each Buyer’s Wrong Choice Is Different

    Skip the Apple AirPods Pro 3 if you need all-day amplification without a recharge stop, or if you want a human on the phone when the fit or the profile is off. Buy them first if you are not yet sure amplification helps you — $249 and a De Novo-authorized feature is the cheapest honest answer to that question, and the earbuds stay earbuds if the answer is no.

    Skip the Lexie B2 Plus entirely as a new purchase right now. Not because the device failed — because a self-fitting hearing aid without its app, its experts, and its warranty desk is a very expensive earplug, and all three are promised only through mid-September as of this writing. Revisit only if a buyer with committed long-term support for these devices emerges from the wind-down.

    Skip the Jabra Enhance Select M2 if you will never use the included care — zero that axis and the tally hands the win to Apple at 65.0 — or if $1,695 is simply not the budget. Buy it if follow-up adjustments from a clinician are the point: no other line on this page sells that at all.

    Updated August 2026: prices, published battery ratings, and membership terms re-verified against Garmin’s and Bushnell’s own current pages and manuals, including green contour data’s paid Garmin Golf membership requirement and Garmin’s four other current Approach watches.

    The verdict. Buy the Garmin Approach S12 at $199.99. It is the cheapest of the five current Approach watches, it carries the longest golf watch battery life figure Garmin publishes for any of them, and the Ledger below scores it 87.0 against 65.0 for the $699.99 Approach S70 and 54.7 for the $189.99 Bushnell iON Elite.

    Three watches. Four published battery numbers. Garmin prints one figure for the S12 and one for the S70. Bushnell prints two different figures for the iON Elite, on its own product page and in its own manual, and they are six hours apart.

    I’ve spent enough afternoons outdoors in tropical heat and humidity to watch a battery drain faster than the box promises. A charge that reads solid on a cool morning can slip by the back nine in real heat and humidity. That’s why I read a published battery number as a starting point, not a guarantee, before I trust it outdoors.

    Which Golf Watch Costs the Least per Published Hour?

    Every number in the table below is published by the company selling the watch. Nothing here is estimated. Price divided by rated golf-mode hours gives you what an hour on the course costs in hardware, and the ranking is not the one the price tags suggest.

    The arithmetic: $199.99 ÷ 30 = $6.67. $699.99 ÷ 20 = $35.00. That is 5.2 times as much per rated hour of golf, for a watch from the same maker in the same product line.

    Prices come from PGA TOUR Superstore for both Garmin watches and from Bushnell’s own store for the iON Elite. Hours come from the makers. Garmin’s Approach S12 owner’s manual gives the battery as “Watch only: up to 10 wk.” and “Playing golf: up to 30 hr.” Garmin’s May 2023 announcement of the Approach S70 gives up to 16 days in smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in GPS golf mode for both the 42 mm and 47 mm sizes. Garmin’s January 2025 announcement of the Approach S44 and S50 gives up to 15 hours in GPS mode for both.

    Do Newer Garmin Golf Watches Have Less Battery Life?

    Yes: Garmin’s own newer Approach watches publish fewer golf hours than its original S12. The 2021 S12 rates 30 hours. Three years later, the 2023 S70 rates 20. By 2025, the S44 and S50 rate 15. Garmin’s newest golf watches are rated for half the golf hours of its oldest and cheapest one, and they cost $100 to $500 more.

    That is not a scandal. The S44, S50 and S70 all drive AMOLED screens and the S12 does not. It is, though, the opposite of what a buyer walking up the price ladder would assume, and neither the ladder nor the trade-off is stated anywhere on the pages selling the watches.

    Why Bushnell Publishes Two Golf Watch Battery Life Numbers

    Bushnell’s iON Elite product page carries the headline “18+ HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE” and, beneath it, “Play 2+ rounds on a single charge.” The technical specification on the same page reads “BATTERY LIFE: 12+ hrs”.

    The user manual for models 362150 and 362151, the iON Elite, says: “The rechargeable battery of the Ion Elite is long lasting and provides up to 12+ hrs (3+ rounds of golf typically) on a charge.”

    So the bigger battery number comes with the smaller round count. Eighteen hours buys two rounds on the product page. Twelve hours buys three rounds in the manual. Both statements are Bushnell’s. Bushnell is not lying in either place; it is quoting two different measurements and letting the surface decide which one you see.

    One row there is a retailer’s mistake rather than a maker’s. I have left it in because it is the page I took the S12’s price from, and a buyer reading that page sees both 15 and 30 without being told which one Garmin stands behind. Garmin stands behind 30.

    How Much Does a Garmin Golf Membership Add to the S12’s Cost?

    Garmin’s own announcement of the Approach S44 and S50 prices the membership at “$9.99/month; $99.99/year” and names what it unlocks: Enhanced CourseView Maps, Green Contours and Touch Targeting, with PlaysLike Distance available to add on the S44. Garmin’s S70 announcement says green contour data requires an active membership.

    Set one year of that against each watch’s own price.

    $99.99 ÷ $199.99 = 50.0%. $99.99 ÷ $699.99 = 14.3%. The subscription lands hardest, proportionally, on the cheapest watch and lightest on the most expensive one. Anyone pricing a golf watch by its sticker is pricing the half of the decision Garmin controls.

    What I could not establish: which of these three watches gets which membership feature. Garmin’s US membership page returns no price and no feature list to a plain fetch, and neither does its Approach S12 or S70 product page. The $99.99 figure and the three feature names above come from Garmin’s own press announcements, which are the only Garmin surfaces that gave up a number. If you are buying an S12 specifically to use a membership feature, confirm with Garmin first that the feature reaches that watch. I could not confirm it, and I am not going to guess on Garmin’s behalf.

    How the Golf Watch Battery Life Ledger Scores Each Pick

    Four axes, 100 points. Every entry is something the maker publishes, because a spec neither Garmin nor Bushnell will put in writing cannot be scored. Disagree with a weight and the tally is rebuilt from the numbers in the cells.

    Why Does the Approach S12 Score Only Half Credit on Fees?

    The Approach S12 scores only half credit on the fee axis because Garmin’s membership page would not confirm whether it charges anything. The Approach S12 gets 12.5 of 25 not because Garmin charges for something, but because I could not confirm that it does not. Bushnell wrote its answer down. Garmin’s membership page would not render one. A maker that makes the negative unverifiable does not get full marks for it.

    Does the Approach S12 Still Win Without Any Single Axis?

    Take runtime out entirely and the S12 still leads, 57.0 to 45.0 to 42.7. Drop the fee axis and it leads 74.5 to 65.0 to 29.7. Remove the battery-consistency axis and it leads 62.0 to 54.7 to 40.0. The verdict does not depend on any single weight, which is worth more than the size of the margin.

    One substitution does move something. Score the iON Elite on Bushnell’s 18-hour headline instead of its manual’s 12 and its runtime rises to 18.0, taking its total to 60.7. That is enough to pass the $699.99 Approach S70 and not enough to threaten the S12. Bushnell’s better number buys it second place, not the win.

    Why Is the Approach S70 the Skip Even When Rankings Split?

    The Ledger puts the iON Elite last. The money puts the Approach S70 last, at $35.00 a golf hour against the iON Elite’s $10.56 to $15.83. Both readings are correct and they are answering different questions: the Ledger asks which watch publishes the most usable information, the ratio asks which watch charges the least for the time it stays on. The S70 is the one I would not buy at $699.99.

    Garmin Approach S12 — Best Golf Watch Battery Life for the Price

    After enough humid afternoons watching a battery gauge slip, the Garmin Approach S12 is the one I’d point a friend to, because it costs least and posts the longest hours. $199.99 at PGA TOUR Superstore. 42,000 preloaded CourseView maps. Garmin’s manual rates it 10 weeks in watch-only mode and 30 hours playing golf, and rates it 5 ATM for water. It has no touchscreen, no AMOLED, no wrist heart rate.

    Skip this if you want one watch on your wrist all week. This one is a golf instrument with a clock in it.

    Garmin Approach S70, 47 mm — AMOLED Screen, Paid Membership

    $699.99 at PGA TOUR Superstore. Garmin announced the line in May 2023 “starting at $649.99”, which means the 47 mm sells today for $50 more than the number in the launch announcement, three years on. A 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 43,000+ courses, up to 16 days in smartwatch mode, up to 20 hours in GPS golf mode.

    Skip this if you already wear a smartwatch. You are paying roughly $500 over the S12 for a second one, and the green contours that justify the screen need $99.99 a year on top.

    Bushnell iON Elite — No Fees, Shortest Golf Watch Battery Life

    $189.99 on Bushnell’s own store, reduced from $219.99. A 1.28-inch colour touchscreen, more than 38,000 preloaded courses, and a manual that says in writing you will not pay membership fees for course data. It is the only one of the three whose maker commits to that.

    Skip this if you play 36 holes between charges. Bushnell’s own two figures for this watch are 12+ hours and 18+ hours, and the lower one is the one in the manual.

    Do Any Golf Watch Battery Life Recalls Exist for These Three?

    I searched the CPSC’s sports and recreation recall listing and Health Canada’s recalls database for Garmin, Bushnell, golf watches and GPS watches. Neither returns a recall naming the Approach S12, the Approach S70 or the iON Elite. Garmin does carry a standing recall notice for its quatix marine watches, announced in July 2013 and covering no Approach model.

    The nearest thing in the category is another brand entirely. Health Canada recalled Decathlon’s KIPRUN GPS 550 GPS running watch on 17 March 2022, 124 units in Canada, because “the battery in these products may overheat during charging or while in use and may cause burns or present a fire risk.” No incidents were reported in Canada as of 14 March 2022. Read that as a category fact about rechargeable sports watches, not as anything about these three.

    What Wouldn’t Garmin and Bushnell Confirm About These Watches?

    Garmin’s US product pages for the Approach S12 and the Approach S70 return no price and no specification table to a plain fetch. Garmin’s membership page returns neither a price nor a feature list. Every Garmin figure on this page therefore comes from a Garmin owner’s manual or a Garmin press announcement, and every price comes from a retailer, named in the sentence that uses it.

    Three things stayed open. Which membership features reach which Approach model, because Garmin will not render the list. Whether the iON Elite’s 12+ or 18+ hours is measured under a comparable condition to Garmin’s, because Bushnell states neither condition. And whether any of the three uses a standard charging cable, because none of the three makers says so on the pages I could reach.

    Coros Pace Pro wins this GPS running watch battery comparison at 84.2 points of 100, and it costs $299. Garmin Forerunner 970 finishes last at 62.1 despite its $749.99 price, because at a matched full-accuracy satellite setting Garmin’s own manual rates it at 21 hours against the Pace Pro’s 31 and the Polar Vantage V3’s 43. The headline numbers these three watches advertise — 26, 38, and 140 hours — were measured under three different conditions, so the comparison most buyers make off the product pages is a comparison of test setups, not watches. Polar Vantage V3, $699.99 in the US as of September 2026, is the one to buy when price matters less than endurance: zero the price axis and the tally flips to Polar, 68.0 to 64.2.

    GPS running watch battery life is the number this whole category sells on. None of the three sells it straight. Every figure on this page is the maker’s own, read from its manual, its spec table, or its support pages, with the condition it was measured under attached. I have shopped for enough of these watches over the years to learn one lesson early: the big number on the box is a mode choice, not a property of the watch.

    Set the three headline claims side by side with each maker’s fine print and the pattern is plain. Every claim is true. No two are measuring the same thing.

    Garmin, to its credit, prints the whole trade in one manual table: 26 hours GPS-only, 23 in auto-select, 21 in all-systems multiband, and 14, 13, and 12 for the same three modes with music. Coros publishes a full mode table too, on the spec page; the front of the page just leads with the softest number. Polar is the only maker of the three that prints the recording interval and the heart-rate state next to each rating — and also the only one whose headline figure comes from the harshest set of cuts.

    GPS Running Watch Battery Life Only Compares at a Matched Setting

    Each maker rates a mode with dual-frequency, all-systems satellite reception — the setting that gives the accurate tracks these watches are bought for. That row is the honest comparison, and it reorders the field.

    Read that middle row twice. The $749.99 flagship carries the lowest full-accuracy rating of the three, by its own manual. At $299, the cheapest watch here beats it by 10 rated hours. The $699.99 watch doubles it. Garmin’s figures come from the Forerunner 970 owner’s manual, Coros’s from its Pace Pro spec table, Polar’s from its Vantage V3 support page; the music figures for Coros are in the5krunner’s spec table, which mirrors the modes Coros publishes.

    One more matched fact. With music playing in the full-accuracy mode, Garmin and Coros converge on the same 12 hours — a $450.99 price gap, zero rated-hours gap, the moment your playlist starts.

    Polar Rates 140 Hours With Heart Rate Off

    The 140-hour figure deserves its own paragraph because it is the biggest number in the category and the most conditional. Polar’s support page spells out what Eco training mode does to earn it: satellite reception drops from dual-frequency to single, wrist heart rate turns off, and the watch records one GPS position every two minutes.

    Run the arithmetic on that interval. Performance mode logs a position every second — 3,600 points an hour. Eco mode logs 30 an hour. The 140-hour watch keeps less than one percent of the track the 43-hour watch keeps. For a multi-day backcountry effort where you need the watch alive on day four, that trade is defensible and Polar documents it more honestly than either rival documents its own modes. As the headline answer to “how long does the battery last,” it describes a different instrument.

    How We Scored GPS Running Watch Battery Life, Fees, and Price

    Four axes, weights stated, every entry sourced above. The weights are printed so you can quarrel with them, and two alternative tallies are printed below so you can see what moves.

    Matched-setting GPS hours, 35 of 100. Weighted heaviest because it is the one battery number all three makers publish under conditions that line up. Scored proportionally against the best rating: Polar 43 hours takes 35.0, Coros 31 takes 31/43 × 35 = 25.2, Garmin 21 takes 21/43 × 35 = 17.1.

    Fine-print disclosure, 25 of 100. A rating you cannot reconstruct is a slogan, so what each maker puts in writing gets scored. Garmin 23: seven battery rows in the manual, music variants included. Polar 21: the only maker printing the logging interval and heart-rate state per mode, but only three modes, and the headline rides the harshest one. Coros 19: a real mode table on the spec page, under sales copy that quotes 38 with no mode name attached.

    What Do Ongoing Fees and List Price Add to the Score?

    Ongoing cost in writing, 20 of 100. Coros 20: its own coaching page offers training feedback “for free,” and there is no paid tier to buy. Garmin 14: Connect+ costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year, optional, with this sentence in Garmin’s own press release: “All existing features and data in Garmin Connect will remain free.” Polar 12: its Fitness Program runs €9.99 a month, about $11 per TechRadar’s April 2025 report; Android Central’s read is that it locks no existing data away, but that is a reviewer’s assessment — I could not find Polar itself putting a stays-free promise in writing.

    List price, 20 of 100. Cheapest takes full marks, the rest scale: Coros $299 takes 20.0, Polar $699.99 takes 299/699.99 × 20 = 8.5, Garmin $749.99 takes 299/749.99 × 20 = 8.0.

    Two re-runs, printed. Zero the price axis and Polar Vantage V3 wins, 68.0 against Coros’s 64.2 and Garmin’s 54.1 — if money is no object, buy the hours. Zero the matched-hours axis instead and Coros Pace Pro still wins, 59.0 against Garmin’s 45.0 and Polar’s 41.5. Price is doing real work in this verdict. The battery axis is not the only thing carrying Coros.

    Two of the Three Makers Now Bill Monthly

    Garmin launched Connect+ in March 2025 at $6.99 a month. Polar followed weeks later with its Fitness Program at €9.99, initially for Android users in the EU, Norway, and the UK. Both are optional; neither removes features these watches shipped with, and Garmin says so in writing. Coros, alone here, has no subscription to sell — its coaching service and training analysis are free, on its own pages, and that absence is now a real differentiator rather than a default.     Which GPS Running Watch Battery Life Fits You?

    Skip the Garmin Forerunner 970 if the speaker, flashlight, ECG, and the newest running metrics are not things you will use. At the matched satellite setting you are paying $450.99 over the Pace Pro for 10 fewer rated hours. Buy it when those extras are the point — on hardware breadth it has no rival on this page.

    Skip the Coros Pace Pro if you need certainty the model stays current. Tom’s Guide reports Coros plans to phase the Pace 3 and Pace Pro out of its lineup, and the5krunner spotted a Pace 4 Pro in an Indonesian regulatory filing on August 5, 2026, with launch expected within weeks. When I checked, REI listed the black Pace Pro as sold out and pre-order only. The $299 price was made permanent in November 2025, per Android Central; the shelf life behind it may be short.
