The best smartwatch battery life on this page belongs to the Amazfit Balance 2, at up to 21 days per charge. That figure is from Amazfit’s own battery FAQ, and the watch costs $299.99 on Amazfit’s US store. Garmin’s Fenix 8 AMOLED and Suunto’s Ocean also rate up to 16 days. Even the $59 CMF Watch 3 Pro claims 13. Apple and Samsung, however, sit at the other end: one to two days, per their own spec pages.
I have worn GPS watches on long days on the water and on multi-day river trips. The charger decides which watch comes along. A watch that needs a nightly top-up stays home when there is no outlet for three days. So battery life in days is the first number I look at. After that, I check how much of it survives GPS.
Smartwatch battery life comparison
Every figure below comes from the maker’s own product page, spec page or owner’s manual. Several of these watches also carry a separate, shorter GPS rating. Smartwatch mode and GPS tracking are two very different numbers, so the GPS figures get their own section.
| Watch | Smartwatch-mode battery (maker’s rating) | Price on the maker’s page |
|---|---|---|
| Amazfit Balance 2 | Up to 21 days, typical use | $299.99 |
| Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED, 47 mm | Up to 16 days (Solar 47 mm: up to 21) | From $999.99 (launch price) |
| Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2), 47 mm | Up to 16 days | Not shown |
| Suunto Ocean | Up to 16 days | $799 sale, $899 list |
| CMF Watch 3 Pro | 13 days | $59 sale, $79 list |
| Polar Vantage V3 | 10 days | $699.99 |
| Apple Watch Ultra 3 | Up to 42 hours (72 in Low Power Mode) | Not shown |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 | Up to 30 hours, always-on display on | From $299.99 |
| Apple Watch Series 11 | Up to 24 hours (38 in Low Power Mode) | Not shown |
One note on the Apple rows. Apple’s compare page now lists the Ultra 4 and Series 12 as its latest models. The Ultra 4 rates up to 50 hours, and the Series 12 matches the Series 11 at up to 24.
Why is Apple Watch battery life so short?
Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch run a phone-style operating system on a bright, high-refresh screen. That buys fast apps, rich notifications and a deep app store. It also costs a charge most nights. Garmin, Amazfit, Suunto, Polar and CMF make the opposite trade. Their displays draw less power, and they keep background work to a minimum. Smart features feel slower, but the battery lasts days instead of hours.

The always-on display is the setting to watch. Garmin’s own Fenix 8 manual shows it plainly. The 47 mm AMOLED rates up to 16 days with wrist gesture, but only up to 7 with the display always on. That is more than half of the battery gone. Most makers quote the wrist-raise figure as the headline, so check which one you are reading first.
GPS watch battery life
Smartwatch-mode battery and GPS-tracking battery are separate measurements, and the gap is wide. Garmin’s manual rates the Fenix 8 AMOLED 47 mm at up to 47 hours in GPS-only mode. With all satellite systems on, that falls to up to 38 hours. Polar splits the Vantage V3 three ways on its product page. Performance training mode runs 43 hours, Eco training mode runs 140 hours, and smartwatch mode runs 10 days.

For backpacking or ultra-distance racing, read the GPS rating first. That is the number that matters, because it is the one that runs out mid-activity. A 16-day watch still goes flat in two days of nonstop tracking.
Budget smartwatch with best battery life
Split the field at $300 and the budget tier wins on cost per day by a wide margin. Price per rated day is simple arithmetic: the maker’s price divided by the maker’s smartwatch-mode rating in days. Galaxy Watch 8’s 30 hours counts as 1.25 days. Watches whose makers showed no price are left out, because there is nothing to divide. That means the Epix Pro and both Apple watches sit this one out.
| Tier | Watch | Price (maker) | Rated days (maker) | Price per rated day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | CMF Watch 3 Pro | $59 | 13 | $59 ÷ 13 = $4.54 |
| Budget | Amazfit Balance 2 | $299.99 | 21 | $299.99 ÷ 21 = $14.29 |
| Budget | Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 | $299.99 | 1.25 | $299.99 ÷ 1.25 = $239.99 |
| Premium | Suunto Ocean | $799 | 16 | $799 ÷ 16 = $49.94 |
| Premium | Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED 47 mm | $999.99 | 16 | $999.99 ÷ 16 = $62.50 |
| Premium | Polar Vantage V3 | $699.99 | 10 | $699.99 ÷ 10 = $70.00 |
Under $300, the best multi-day watch here is the Amazfit Balance 2: 21 rated days, the longest on this page, for $299.99. The CMF is the cheapest day of battery you can buy, at $4.54. Premium watches do not buy more days. The Suunto Ocean matches the Fenix 8’s 16 days for $200.99 less, and both trail the $299.99 Amazfit.
Smartwatch with best battery life
For the longest battery at the lowest price, the CMF Watch 3 Pro’s 13 days at $59 is hard to beat. It carries fewer health sensors than the rest of this group, though. For strong battery life plus a fuller sensor set, the Amazfit Balance 2 is the pick: 21 days for $299.99. For multi-day GPS in the backcountry, look at the Fenix 8 or the Suunto Ocean, and judge them on their GPS ratings. Our adventure smartwatch comparison goes deeper on those.
How we checked these smartwatch battery life ratings
Each battery figure was read on the maker’s own page on October 10, 2026. For Amazfit, that is its Balance 2 battery FAQ and US store. For Garmin, it is the Fenix 8 and Epix Pro owner’s manuals plus the Fenix 8 launch release. Suunto, CMF, Polar, Samsung and Apple figures come from their product or compare pages. Where a maker’s page showed no price, the cell says so. More on our process is on our editorial standards page.
